Strenghten Your Self-Esteem with Meditation

Have you ever felt like you’re not enough, no matter how hard you try? You’re not alone. Many struggle with low self-esteem. Studies indicate that up to a quarter of the population may be affected by low self-esteem.

Low self-esteem, exercises for low self-esteem, does meditation help with low self-esteem?

As a meditation guide, these numbers don’t surprise me. For my part, low self-esteem was one of the main reasons I started meditating. I constantly compared myself to others and almost always concluded that I wasn’t good enough – that I was a failure or even a fraud. This became especially apparent in my work, where I had difficulty taking myself seriously. It felt like I was pretending, always waiting to be exposed. Even in relationships, I struggled, because I had trouble standing up for myself and expressing my opinions. I simply didn’t feel that my feelings were worth taking seriously.

In my conversations with those who seek our meditation center, low self-esteem is a recurring theme. For many, it’s a painful struggle to not feel worthy as human beings.

In this article, I want to break down what low self-esteem means and show how meditation can be an effective tool to manage and overcome this challenge

What is Low Self-Esteem?

Low self-esteem is a deep belief that you’re not enough as a person – that something is wrong with you or that you lack the capacity. This can lead to constant worry, catastrophic thoughts, and a feeling that you could find yourself in a situation where everything spirals out of control at any moment.

How does Low Self-Esteem Affect Us?

Low self-esteem can manifest in different ways.

  • For some, it results in withdrawal and avoiding challenges, doubting their own abilities.

  • For others, it leads to overcompensation – constantly trying to perform and appear strong, which often results in feelings of shame when they don’t meet their own high expectations.

  • In extreme cases, it can lead to an unwillingness to accept criticism or listen to others because it feels too painful to confront one’s flaws. This makes someone isolated and struggles to collaborate with others.

How Can we Address Low Self-Esteem?

To manage low self-esteem, it helps to first understand where it comes from. The answer is that it exists only in our minds – in our thoughts. Self-esteem isn’t an objective truth, but an inner dialogue we’ve created. In meditation terms, we can call this dialogue “false” because it doesn’t have any foundation in the external, objective reality.

Awareness is the starting point

The first step is to become aware of your own patterns. Ask yourself:

  • In what situations does my low self-esteem show up?

  • How do I react? Do I deny it? Try to compensate? Give up?

By observing yourself, you can start to see how self-esteem affects your behavior and emotions.

Meditation as a Tool

Guided meditation, Stockholm Meditation, led meditation, self-esteem, self-confidence, online meditation, meditation teacher.

Meditation helps us let go of negative thoughts and feelings in the moment. Let’s say you feel insufficient or even worthless during a meeting with a colleague who appears more competent than you. Instead of getting stuck in those negative feelings, meditation can help you become aware of and release those thoughts.

Through continuous meditation, you can “empty out” these negative thoughts and feelings each time they arise.

In addition to using meditation in the moment, regular sitting meditation is recommended, preferably under guidance. During such a sitting meditation, you calmly go through past events in your life and release the situations where low self-esteem has left its mark.

This work requires time and discipline, but it’s not as difficult as it sounds. At a meditation center, you can get support and guidance to get started and keep the process going.

The Result of Meditation

Over time, you’ll notice that self-esteem becomes less of a struggle and more of a neutral state. Instead of constantly questioning yourself, you can focus on what you need to do and find solutions based on your unique circumstances.

Help with low self-esteem. We help you accept yourself. Self-acceptance.

For me, meditation has been an incredible journey. After struggling with low self-esteem for much of my life, I now feel stronger, more stable, and at peace with myself. It’s not that I walk around thinking I’m strong or special, but rather that I handle situations naturally, without excessive rumination. Life has become more of a flow than a constant battle, and my mind is finally free from those constantly negative thoughts.

I wish more people discovered the benefits of meditation. It’s one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself – a path to inner strength and peace.
